Parks and Recreation Month is celebrated nationally in Canada every June. This initiative is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of parks and recreation in our lives. Take a look at our calendar and events for help with finding ways to enjoy the many great parks and recreation spaces Perth East has to offer. 

 

The PERC Pool offers public swim times, lessons, junior lifeguard program, swim team, aquafit and land swims.

New for 2025! Shakespeare Summer Camp will be held at the Shakespeare Optimist Hall. Thank you to the Shakespeare Optimist Club for supporting this program.

Kids ages 4-12 can join our recreation team for a fun-filled time of crafts, sports, water games, experiments, and more! Camp runs from 9am-4pm. Drop off between 8am-9am, pickup between 4-5pm. Registration is exclusively available for entire weeks.

Sportball offers kids (ages 4-12) the chance to experience a different sport each week. Led by our amazing Program Leaders, kids will get to learn the rules and improve their skills in the sport chosen each week. Sportball is available in Milverton, Sebringville and Shakespeare.

Sportball is free for 2025! This project is supported by a grant from the Brian (Barney) Dale Memorial Fund, McGratten Children’s Fund, and Lloyd & Nancy Robertson Youth Initiative Fund, held with the Stratford Perth Community Foundation.

Babysitting Course

The Canada Safety Council babysitters course is aimed at youth turning 12 years of age within the calendar year up to 17 years. The babysitters course provides youth with the knowledge of child development and behavioural problems, caring for the child, nutrition, basic first aid, handling emergencies, and more.

$20 to attend. We will provide a nutritious snack.

Home Alone

The Canada Safety Council Home Alone program is designed to teach children 10 years of age or older with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. The course will help kids understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep themselves safe and occupied.

$10 to attend. We will provide a nutritious snack.

Cynthia’s Sweets and Things will teach you how to ice the perfect cookie with your child! You will learn the difference between piping and flood icing, how to make designs in wet icing, and how to add depth to your cookies. Children ages 5-14 welcome with Mom to celebrate Mother’s Day early.

This running group is designed to get just about anyone from the couch to running 5 kilometers or 30 minutes in just 9 weeks. Ideal for ages 16+. Meet ups planned once per week with the group to train, however this program consists of 3 workouts per week.
